Description: The Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Basking Ridge offered a Free educational seminar, Check It Out!, a program that educates salon professionals on how to help in the early detection of skin cancers. Salon professional, armed with the right information, can save lives by becoming the first line of defense in identifying suspicious moles.
Recap: The Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Basking Ridge hosted a Free educational seminar by Dr. Elizabeth Quigley. Dr. Quigley gave a compelling presentation on the importance of salon professional's assistance in identifying suspicios moles on their clients while performing their regular services. Dr. Quigley displayed various types and looks of skin cancers and advised the attendees on how best to talk to their clients without alarming them. Dr. Quigley demonstrated on a live model how to search through the scalp. Afterwards. there was a lively Q&A session and everyone left feeling empowered. The Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation provided every attendee with a card for their mirror that displays the ABCDE's of melanoma as a reminder to check their clients.
