The Ray Festa Melanoma Scholarship is awarded in memory of Ray Festa, a lifelong resident of Montclair and 1957 Montclair High School graduate. Ray was an outstanding athlete and community leader throughout his short life of 53 years. As a youngster, Ray was a good student, Student Council Officer, young entrepreneur and active in community service. As an adult, he chose a career that kept him in Montclair everyday as the owner of Ray’s Luncheonette, a beloved spot for many MHS students. In recognition of Ray’s keen interest and support of MHS as well as his extreme devotion to the people of Montclair, this four-year scholarship is awarded to a college-bound senior who emulates the spirit of participation, entrepreneurism and community service exemplified by Ray Festa.
The 2012 grant will be in the amount of $10,000 payable in equal installments of $2,500 per academic year.
